Feathers in the Woods, Storm Coming

The S7 camera logged a full day of flock portraits, and Boss reacted to a dozen. Roosters and hens kept walking up to the lens. There was a reddish-brown rooster with a bright red comb and a black-and-gold rooster flanked by rust-colored hens. A black-and-white speckled rooster stared straight in, and so did a glossy black hen and a grey-and-black hen with a white crest. Another rooster was caught drinking from a bowl. By evening a white rooster with a flowing tail stood tall for the camera, and turkeys watched from the background and behind the fence.

The sad news is that the female white turkey is gone. Boss found a large scatter of white feathers in the woods behind the pen but no carcass. The flock record now lists her as lost, presumed taken in broad daylight, and two white turkeys remain. One camera was turned around to face where the feathers lay.

A wind and rain storm is on the way, with a wind advisory through Sunday morning and gusts near fifty miles an hour. It's worth tying down loose gear, checking tarps and camera mounts, and expecting a power flicker. The Pi running the coop cameras has no battery backup, so it would drop first.
