Roosters Staring Down the Lens

The yard camera spent the afternoon with the roosters, and they kept walking up to look straight into it. Two portraits earned the day's reactions: a black-and-gold rooster with a bright red comb standing tall, and a black rooster with a sharp eye, hens gathered around him. Through the afternoon the lens also caught a brown rooster on a leafy patch, a white rooster with black streaks, and a red-combed rooster beside a brown hen. Late in the day, roosters and a turkey stood close together. One rooster also took a turn on a fence post with his back to the camera, and a speckled dark hen gave the lens a careful once-over.

The injured turkey was seen taking a snack of corn, which is the sign that matters most. The water dish outside her pen looked cloudy with feed bits, so a fresh fill is worth doing.

Quasibirdo's portrait on the farm website is now a close-up of the blue-gray, white-crested bird in the pumpkin. The first photo had a sliver of another chicken at its edge. That sliver is too little to name by breed or bird.
