Pumpkin Day and a Turkey on the Mend

The s7-cam had a full day of flock portraits. Boss reacted to fourteen frames, nearly all roosters and hens looking straight into the lens: a large white rooster with a speckled hen behind it, a glossy rust-and-black rooster in the sunlit run, and a grey speckled hen beside a white rooster mid-preen. Several dark and mahogany roosters stared down the camera with bright red combs.

Late in the day the flock found pumpkin. A black rooster and a white rooster worked over the halves, and a dark-brown rooster stood guard over one.

The injured turkey is doing okay. Morning checks found all birds normal. In the afternoon she was lifting herself up but still not putting weight on the bad leg. She's on crate rest with soft shavings, feed and water close, and the vet trip looks avoidable. A vet is needed only if the leg swells, turns hot, hangs at a wrong angle, or she stops eating.

MegaBird turned in early and was up at dawn to greet the loud morning flock.
