Roosters, Hens, and a Pumpkin

The nesting box camera caught a full day of flock life centered on a halved pumpkin and a squash, which drew steady attention from roosters and hens alike through the afternoon. A mahogany rooster with a bright red comb held court in profile early on, then reappeared through the day pecking at the produce, cranes-necked and sharp-eyed. A black hen and a white hen with grey lacing also made appearances, forgaging near the pumpkin and staring straight into the lens.

By evening a turkey perched on the fence, bare pink face and snood on full display, closing out the day's watch.

Off-camera, one of the bronze turkeys hurt in a fall remains crated and off the injured leg after three days — no worsening noted, but she's being watched closely for swelling or favoring that could point to something worse than a strain.
