Two Harvests and a Lot of Eye Contact

The birds spent the whole day working the lens. Seven frames were pulled out as keepers, and every one of them is a bird looking straight into the camera — a grey-and-white rooster at 06:37, a red-comb rooster holding a perch at 07:18 with the flock scattered below, a white-crested black rooster at 08:51, a barred rooster standing on a beam at 09:12, a white hen and then a white rooster at the water bowl either side of 12:40, and a barred hen at 14:06.

Between those, an ordinary good day in the pen: white hens on watch through the morning, a white turkey with black tail feathers at 09:00, birds taking turns at the metal water bowl through the middle of the day, a reddish-brown hen at 15:00, and a dark turkey up on the perch at dusk while two white chickens foraged underneath. 21,913 frames across the farm's cameras.

The garden came in twice — two bottle gourds, squash and warty crookneck gourds in the afternoon, then four cucumbers, two zucchini, a crookneck and two more gourds in the evening.
