Roosters at the Lens

The flock spent the whole day working the camera, and four separate rooster portraits earned a reaction — a red-comb bird staring straight down the lens at 10:59 with a white turkey and a speckled hen behind him, a white rooster by the water bowl at 12:52, a mid-flap shot at 13:35 with wings fully spread and every feather crisp, and another alert red-comb at 14:18 while the rest foraged around him.

Between those, the day ran steady from 06:46 to 19:27: speckled hens at the bowl, a brown rooster with his tail fanned, close-ups sharp enough to catch the shine in a hen's eye, birds pecking and drinking through the middle hours. The last frame of the day was two turkeys roosting on a beam, one facing the camera with its snood flushed bright red.

Two birds got new portraits on the roster: Adelbird and Birddor, both flagged as ornitharchs. One of the hatchery bantam cockerels was identified as a likely Old English Game Bantam, black-tailed white.

Evening brought a turkey-rooster scuffle — mostly posturing, though the rooster took a pecking for his trouble.
