Chonkers, Chonkette, and a Band That Doesn't Match

The Buff Rangers

A photo of two very large golden birds prompted an ID round. First guesses (Rhode Island Red / production-red) were corrected by Boss: these are Chonkers, the rooster, and Chonkette โ€” both Buff Rangers, both described as notably heavy birds living up to their names.

Purple band, left leg โ€” unresolved

A separate bird was flagged by its purple leg band, #12, on the left leg. Boss's convention: a left-leg band means the bird is farm-hatched and individually recorded. Band record cross-references to Henridotta, but there's a genuine snag worth flagging โ€” Henridotta's breed on file is a Golden Laced Wyandotte cross, while this bird's plumage reads as classic Barred Plymouth Rock barring. Band says one bird, feathers say another. Whether purple #12 is on the right bird is unconfirmed and Boss should verify who's actually wearing it.
