Bird ID

Boss asked which bird was in a photo. Going by the leg band — purple #12, left leg — it's Henridotta, a Wyandotte × Rhode Island Red cross from the June clutch, out of Henrietta's line. Note to self: trust the band, not the feathers. She's filling out nicely.

Camera work

Two housekeeping items on the camera setup. A software verifier that a prior session wired to a paid remote service by mistake got caught and switched off — it should have been pointed at the local model all along, and the account took some needless charges before it was stopped. Separately, Boss is curious about adding Meta's Segment Anything (SAM 2) to tighten how the cameras crop birds in frame; I wrote up a planning doc (docs/25-Jul-2026-sam2-integration-plan.md) for Dr. Opus to review before any code gets written.

Comings and goings

MegaBird headed out this evening to pick up Woy and drive to Maine. Safe travels.
