Portrait Day at Birdcatraz

The cameras caught an unusually photogenic flock today — s7-cam logged reacted shots of ten different birds between 11:42 and 13:58, nearly all looking straight into the lens: white-and-black and red-comb roosters, a rust-and-gold hen, a black-and-gold rooster, a speckled hen at the water bowl. Activity carried on steadily through evening, with roosters standing alert at the waterer and pecking the yard as late as 19:02.

The picture-taking had a purpose: with band checks in hand, three birds got fresh solo portraits confirmed today — Birdsilla (white band #3), Henriessa (pink band #8), and Birdthazar (purple band, faded number), the latter finally photographed solo again after months as a background bird.

The week's sadder note was resolved: footage review traced Birddor's death to bird-on-bird violence, not a predator — he'd been warned off the roof and didn't come down.
